From our shop in the Pacific Northwest, each piece is handcrafted with care, where tradition meets modern precision. We meticulously hand select every piece of hardwood and build every piece from start to finish in our Seattle workshop, ensuring a level of craftsmanship that’s been called “spectacular” by clients who trust us with their heirloom furniture.

Our wood
At the heart of every Tomfoolery piece is wood with character, provenance, and purpose.
We lean on responsibly sourced domestic hardwood species like Willamette walnut, white oak, maple, cherry, madrone and myrtle.
In particular, several wood species are only available in the Pacific Northwest, like our use of Willamette Valley walnut: salvaged from orchards and urban trees in the Pacific Northwest when the trees come to their end of life. This wood is rich in history, color and grain, with beautiful chocolate brown, coffee, red and vanilla hues swirling through every board.
Each linear foot isn’t just chosen for its aesthetic appeal—it’s chosen intentionally. We partner with regional mills and restoration projects; the trees have served lives, and then, rather than ending as waste, they’re reborn as furniture that lasts generations. The result is wood that is visually striking and environmentally mindful.

We offer custom stain options, select premium hardware, and finish each piece with durability and elegance in mind.
